Day6 데이식스 is a band that currently consists of 5 members: Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon. (Junhyeok the keyboardist left in 2016, for personal reasons.)
The band debuted on September 7, 2015, under JYP Entertainment but it was hard to get noticed in an industry which focuses more on choreographed dance performances. Finally, in 2018, with the release of their greatest hits album, which also contained two English versions and one Japanese version of their songs, they noticed a shift in the industry. Bands were now gaining interest with the public and the boys were finally acknowledged by JYP himself. They released their fifth album July 2019 and shortly after got their first win on a music show, something they never thought would have been possible in the early years. They were so pleased with the win and also happy that they could now finally wear name brand clothes on stage.
Being one of the forerunners of this new interest in bands has put them under a fair bit of stress. The day before their sixth album was set to release it was announced that they would be taking a break to focus on their health. To not disappoint the fans they did release the title song’s MV but without promotions.
Young K (Kang Young-hyun) Day6’s bassist, songwriter (for most of the Day6 songs as well as songs for other artists), and Vlog host, had moved to Canada to attend middle and high school. Listening to his pronunciation of Spanish you would wonder if he had being studying in Spain instead.
How would you do? Did you play along with them?
Their most recognized songs are Days Gone By "행복했던 날들이었다" and Congratulations which were written by Young K with help on the music from the other members.
The actor in their original Congratulations Music Video is another Canadian, Choi Woo Shik who, most recently, was part of the cast of the Academy Award winning film Parasite.
