Arthdal Chronicals: BINGEWORTHY K-DRAMA

Updated: Dec 6, 2020

Grab the popcorn, sit by your best viewing screen and get ready for a wild ride of k-

drama, fantasy and fun with Arthdal Chronicals. This Netflix series is a mega surprise that topped my list for covid-binge-watching k-dramas! Arthdal is highly entertaining and really well produced. The actors and supporting cast are written beautifully and the story of Arth, the Neantals and Eun Some will win your heart with adventure, struggle, sorrow and hope.

Arthdal's power casting includes Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, Jang Dong Gun, and Kim Ok Vin as the main actors. Netflix has signed on for Season 2 & 3, with production currently delayed due to covid. Fingers are crossed that everyone is healthy and will return to work safely and soon.

For those of you who haven't seen Arthdal yet, here's the quick synopsis:

In a mythical land called Arth, the inhabitants of the ancient city of Arthdal contend with power struggles, while some encounter love along the way. Eun-seom [Song Joong Ki] goes through hardships to bring his tribe back to life and learns of his true origins in the process. (Source: Wikipedia)

Saya & Eun Some

Song Joong Ki masterfully brings two of Arthdal's lead characters to life with two divergent characters. Without giving any spoilers, you will simply need to watch Joong Ki's two characters like you are watching a "Master Class" in acting. If you call yourself a Joong Ki fan (known as a Ki Aile fan), then comment and tell us if you are "Team Eun Some" or "Team Saya". Tell us what your team is a tweet and #mybias.

It might surprise you that Song Joong Ki isn't the only main story or lead of Arthdal Chronicals. There are additional leads whose pursuit of power and survival threaten one another. For those who have seen Season 1, which storyline and actor do you 'stan'?

Arthdal tops the quality list for production, writing, casting, OST and costuming. More on that later. Today, I need to bring up the topic of wigs. Sometimes, k-drama's wig choices are not what Western viewers are used to (see "My Drama List" for an example of wig and hair critique). Arthdal steps up their wig-game and here are four of my favourite wigs for the characters: Saya, Tagon, Yangcha (a cult hit with Arthdal fans) and Tae Alha (viewed as a strong-female lead like "House of Cards", US version).

These wigs are smooth, blend well to the actor's natural hairline and wear well in action scenes. Kudos to the hair team for these 4 wigs! Send us a tweet at K*Boom with your favourite Arthdal weave.

There is so much more to talk about with Arthdal Chronicals. Stay tuned to K*Boom for more Arthdal Chronicals.

Hint: here are some photos of the next topics ❤🤞❤:
